London and I go way, way back; in fact, as far back as 2008, when I bluntly decided to move there despite never having been out of my home country of Canada. Eight years and eleven trips to London later, our love affair is still going strong.
In this London travel guide, you’ll find tonnes of info to help you with your itinerary. I’ve put together a balanced mix of tourist hotspots and personal favourites, from quaint streets to beloved eateries and secretly scenic lookouts that will have you post to Instagram faster than you can say fish & chips. This is my attempt to present the London I know to out-of-town visitors and show every single one of them why I am head-over-heels in love with this city.
What’s In This London City Guide
Whether you opt for a 5* hotel or a budget-friendly ultra-modern room, find out what I think are the best hotels in London in terms of quality, service, and location. I also included a curated list of local Airbnb’s if that’s more your thing!
There’s an entire section about places that are particularly photogenic, from colourful facades to chic coffee shops.
My Favourite London Restaurant & Cafés
London is nothing if not an epicurean city but it’s also expensive; a poor decision might end up costing you far too much money. With this list, you won’t be fooled into sitting down at tourist traps!
Quintessentially English: The Pubs & Afternoon Teas in London
There are probably just as many pubs as there are afternoon teas in this city, making it rather laborious to pick the bad apples from the basket. I’ve listed my favourites after years of trial and error. Because who’s got time for a bad beer in a bad pub?
What Makes Me A London Expert
I lived in London for over a year back in 2008 and I visited at least 10 times since – frankly, I think I stopped counting. This allows me to see this city from a visitor’s point of view, with a fresh set of eyes, and to know precisely what aspects of the city will be most enjoyable for them. There are tourist traps in this town – like everywhere else – and the last thing I want is for any of you to walk right into them. This comprehensive, 50-page city guide contains over 200 suggestions (hotels, restaurants, parks, bars, viewpoints, etc.), all of which I have personally tested and endorse, and that I am certain will contribute to a positive experience in this beautiful city.
Let me help you plan your London getaway!
